Job Position: Accounting Controller

Location: Vancouver, BC

Salary: $125,000 - $150,000

We are seeking an experienced Accounting Controller to join Aragon, an award‑winning property developer. The ideal candidate will oversee a team of 8 accounting professionals and ensure the financial health and integrity of our company. The Accounting Controller will play a crucial role in managing financial operations, implementing accounting policies, managing benefits/payroll and providing strategic financial insights.

• Oversee, and perform, day‑to‑day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, benefit administration and payroll (PUSH Software).
• Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with accepted accounting principles.
• Manage month‑end and year‑end closing processes.

• Supervise and mentor a team of 7-8 accounting professionals.
• Provide training, support, and performance evaluations to team members.
• Foster a collaborative and productive team environment.

• Develop and manage annual budgets and financial forecasts.
• Monitor and report on budget variances and financial performance.
• Provide financial analysis and recommendations to the President.

• Establish and maintain internal controls to ensure the integrity of financial information.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and standards.
• Coordinate audits and implement audit recommendations.

• Assist in the development of long‑term financial strategies.
• Provide financial insights and analysis to support strategic decision‑making.
• Collaborate with other departments to support overall business objectives.

• Oversee the implementation and maintenance of accounting software and systems.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices.
• Ensure efficient and effective financial operations.

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in accounting or finance, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting.
• Experience in the property development/construction industry is highly desirable.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in SAGE 300 and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Detail‑oriented with a high level of accuracy.
• Experience in project and construction costing, budget management, cost control, variance analysis, and administration of assets.
