Manager – Financial Accounting and Advisory Services (Cost Accounting & Assurance)

We are seeking a seasoned Manager with specialized expertise in Cost Accounting and Inventory Management to join our Financial Accounting Advisory Services Finance Optimization (FAAS‑FO) team. This role focuses on evaluating and optimizing product/service costing and inventory processes, guiding clients through financial and operational improvements, and driving the growth of our practice.
YourKey Responsibilities
- Lead Costing/Inventory engagements from scoping to implementation, training and deliverables.
- Advise clients on leading practices, system configuration and optimisation strategies.
- Assess current systems, identify pain points, define requirements and recommend solutions aligned with client objectives.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with client management.
- Provide thought leadership and contribute to business development, mentorship and knowledge sharing.
- Evaluate and optimise cost accounting and inventory frameworks tailored to client structure and reporting.
- Design and implement programmes that improve productivity, efficiencies and cost savings across operations, procurement and logistics.
- Conduct diagnostics and optimisation of core financial processes:
Cost Accounting, Inventory Management, Record‑to‑Report, Budgeting and Forecasting. - Familiarity with Order‑to‑Cash, Procure‑to‑Pay, Acquire‑to‑Retire and Monthly Financial Statement Close processes.
- Build and automate reports to reduce manual effort.
- Maintain productive relationships with client management and internal EY service lines.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, Information Systems or related field.
- CPA or equivalent designation required; strong grasp of accounting principles.
- 5+ years in cost accounting or controllership within manufacturing or processing environments.
- Deep knowledge of cost allocation principles (e.g., Activity‑Based Costing) and GAAP.
- Experience with costing, budgeting or planning solutions an asset.
- Project management skills, ability to manage multiple engagements simultaneously; PMP an asset.
- Experience in process optimisation or business analysis.
- Experience with inventory management processes.
- Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills in English;
French skills an asset. - Demonstrated project management and leadership skills.
- Willingness to travel 10–30%.
- Work independently in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
- Build credibility and trust quickly.
- Drive revenue within existing accounts and develop new prospects.
