Job Summary
Reporting to the Finance Manager, Accounting Assistant assists the Finance Manager and Accountant in gathering, analyzing, and reporting financial information for LMSCL. Responsibilities include using payroll and bookkeeping systems to enter financial data and assisting managers in analyzing and interpreting the information.
Education & Experience- Completion of a diploma in a related accounting field.
- Minimum of 1 year related experience working in accounting or a financial organization/department/division in Canada.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel advanced functionalities.
- Preferable: bachelor's or master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Accounting Administration, Business Administration, or Finance Management from a Canadian institution.
- Having a CPA (Chartered Professional Accountant) is an asset.
- Working knowledge of Payworks payroll system, Quick Books, and Microsoft Power BI are assets.
- Prepares payroll each pay period.
- Assists in bookkeeping on a daily basis.
- Prepares employee benefits and municipal pension plan list, and acts as liaison between LMSCL and insurance or pension company.
- Examines bank statements and reconciles them with general ledger entries.
- Assists in examining expenses submitted by employees.
- Assists in creating company financial reports.
- Assists in analysis of collected data to determine the state of the company’s financial health.
- Assists in analyzing data to understand where the company is generating and losing revenue.
- Assists in examining the proficiency of the software programs used to organize data.
- Assists in generating financial reports that display the company’s profits, equity, and cash flow.
- Fulfills other tasks relevant to the job description not listed above as assigned by the Finance Manager or Accountant.
- Performs other related duties as required.
- Financial analysis skills.
- Experience with financial analysis software.
- Advanced MS-Excel skills (macros, lookup fields, etc.).
- Financial reporting.
- Working with payroll systems.
- Working with bookkeeping software.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Teamwork and collaboration.
- Effective communication in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Excellent customer service capabilities.
40 hours per week, Monday‑Friday (Full time).
Location:
Vancouver Head office (#313-8495 Ontario Street, Vancouver, BC V5X 3E8).
Three (3) months, which may be extended by an additional three (3) months if needed. LMSCL reserves the right to terminate the employee if they are deemed unfit for the position.
Pay Grade$27/hour, rate negotiable for CPA with proven track record working for a financial institution in Canada.
