Cross Border Tax Senior Manager- CPA designation (Canada) is required
- Minimum 5 years’ hands‑on experience in both U.S. individual taxation and Canadian cross‑border issues (treaty familiarity required)
- Exposure to or direct experience with U.S. personal tax filings (e.g., Form 1040, FBAR, FATCA)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to explain complex tax issues clearly to clients
- Experience working with small teams or boutique firms is a plus
- Interest in or experience with expatriate taxation or cross‑border compliance is preferred
- Familiarity with renunciation or streamlined filing procedures is a strong asset
As a Senior Cross‑Border Tax Manager, you will lead the preparation and review of complex U.S. and Canadian personal (and, if experienced, corporate) tax returns for clients with cross‑border footprints. While the immediate focus is on compliance, the role will quickly expand into residency and treaty‑based planning as you collaborate directly with Kevin.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and review U.S. and Canadian individual tax returns, ensuring seamless coordination of cross‑border issues.
- Optional: prepare and review Canadian corporate filings if you bring that expertise.
- Manage planning engagements involving the U.S.–Canada tax treaty, foreign tax credits, residency determinations, and departure/entry strategies.
- Research complex cross‑border matters; draft technical memoranda and client deliverables.
- Correspond with the CRA and IRS.
- Supervise, mentor, and review the work of junior staff, fostering their technical and professional growth.
- Oversee each engagement from budgeting and scheduling through billing and post‑engagement follow‑up.
- Minimum 5 years’ hands‑on experience in both U.S. individual taxation and Canadian cross‑border issues (treaty familiarity required).
- Proven ability to run engagements independently—including planning, client communication, and invoicing.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience supervising and coaching staff in a small‑firm environment is strongly preferred.
