TRS Staffing Solutions has exciting opportunities for a Mechanical Estimator role to work for one of Canada's top employers and a global leader in the Engineering, Procurement, Construction Management industry.
Responsibilities- Refine estimating practices and participate in continuous improvement initiatives within the department.
- Maintain and update estimating tools, cost databases, and productivity benchmarks.
- Assist in developing estimating strategies, work plans, and schedules to support proposal deadlines.
- Contribute to the preparation of estimate documentation, including basis‑of‑estimate summaries and risk/assumption registers.
- Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and project controls teams to validate technical assumptions and commercial requirements.
- Interpret drawings, specifications, and engineering documents to determine quantities, material take‑offs, labor requirements, and constructability considerations.
- Prepare comprehensive mechanical estimates for piping systems, equipment installation, and related construction activities across various project phases.
- Preform additional tasks as required.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field.
- 6+ years of related estimating or mechanical construction experience.
- Experience working with estimating software, productivity metrics, material pricing data, and cost benchmarking tools.
- Strong understanding of mechanical construction, particularly piping and equipment installation.
- Ability to interpret technical documents and translate them into accurate cost assessments.
- Solid communication skills and confidence interacting with multidisciplinary teams, suppliers, and contractors.
- Strong attention to detail, with the ability to work effectively under time constraints.
- Familiarity with industry codes, standards, and general regulatory frameworks.
- Ability to work independently on smaller scopes while contributing to larger team-based estimates.
