Position Summary

The GIS Analyst plays a key role in supporting our geospatial workflows by creating, maintaining, and analyzing spatial data across a variety of projects. This position is ideal for a recent graduate who is eager to apply their technical skills in mapping, data processing, and spatial analysis within a collaborative environment.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the capacity for analytical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create, edit, manage and analyze spatial data.
  • Produce high-quality maps, figures and visualization.
  • Maintain organized spatial datasets, metadata and documentation to ensure data integrity and long-term usability while adhering to internal data management standards.
  • Support spatial analysis for planning, operations or environmental aspects for mining and hydropower clients.
  • Assist with preparing services and web maps for field data collection.
  • Automate routine tasks using Python or Model Builder.
  • Support the development and refinement of internal GIS standards, templates and best practices.
  • Collaborate with team members to translate project requirements into GIS workflow, maps and analytical outputs.
  • Perform additional tasks and assignments as directed to support evolving project needs.
Requirements
  • Recent completion of the BCIT GIS Advanced Diploma (or equivalent).
  • Proficient in ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and geoprocessing tools as well as data management best practices and metadata standards.
  • Understanding of coordinate systems, projections and datum transformations.
  • Working knowledge of data conversion techniques, extracting information from CAD drawings and working with Map Series.
  • Experience with ESRI ArcGIS Enterprise as well as scripting and query languages (e.g. Python and SQL).
  • Knowledge of 3D GIS concepts and interest in applying them in real-world projects is an asset.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, organizational skills and time management.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Comfortable meeting deadlines, changing priorities and working in multi‑stakeholder project environments.
