Lead Structural Engineer

in our T&D Canada business as a Lead Structural Engineer. Reporting to the Director of Engineering, this position is located in our Vancouver, BC office. If you have a successful track record in heavy industry and thrive on challenges in a fast-paced environment, this is the opportunity for you.

• Act as the Structural Lead and Professional of Record on Transmission and Distribution (T&D) projects
• Provide structural design, technical support and quality assurance/quality control review including calculations, design, design drawing reviews from conceptual level to detailed design for substation facilities, including equipment support structures and footings, transmission towers & poles and control room and indoor GIS switch gear buildings
• Perform structural modeling using software such as SAP
  2000, LPILE, SAFE, and MathCAD
• Preparation and review of detailed design documents including design basis, design reports, design plans, construction specifications, field review plans and reports
• Review of vendor documents against specifications
• Respond to requests from construction sites and complete project documentation, including as-builts, calculations, and returning data to clients
• Coordinate and oversee the development of project resource planning, scope, schedule, and budget for a structural discipline project team
• Establish and maintain professional relationships with our external business partners; present information and respond to questions from individual or groups of clients
• Direct and/or participate in client meetings/job site visits to collect or deliver design and engineering data
• Mentor and develop less experienced engineering team members
• Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to ensure integrated project delivery

• Structural Engineering Degree from a recognized university along with a Canadian Professional Engineering Designation (P.Eng.) or the ability to register as a Professional Engineer with EGBC
• 12+ years of structural engineering design experience
• Experience with structural design for utility substations
• Expertise in applicable Canadian codes and standards, including Occupational Health and Safety Regulations and CSA standards; familiarity with North American transmission structure design standards
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the United States is considered an asset
