Structural Department Head

A leading Canadian engineering consultancy is seeking a Structural Department Head to lead a national team delivering hydro and water-retaining structure projects across Canada. This senior leadership role focuses on team management, project delivery excellence, and strategic growth within the structural practice, offering a competitive salary of $150,000–$190,000 CAD.

• Provide administrative leadership to a large team of engineers, technologists, technicians, and scientists focused on structural aspects of hydro and water-retaining infrastructure.
• Oversee design, assessment, and planning for diverse hydro and water projects serving public and private clients nationwide.
• Ensure high-quality, timely delivery of consulting services to external clients and internal teams.

• Manage staff development, performance, coaching, mentoring, and long-term career planning.
• Supervise engineering deliverables across projects, tracking performance metrics and resource allocation.
• Support business development through opportunity assessments, proposals, and client relationship building.
• Coordinate across disciplines and promote a safety-first culture with proactive problem-solving.

• Bachelor’s in civil/structural engineering (P.Eng. preferred) or equivalent technical background with proven leadership; 15+ years structural experience, ideally in consulting and hydro structures.
• 5+ years managing engineering/technical teams (20+ staff ideal), with strong project management, communication, and client relationship skills.
• Proficiency in office tools for reports, proposals, and technical documentation.

• Salary range: $150,000–$190,000 CAD, plus 4 weeks vacation.
