What You'll Do Here:

The Student Estimator will have the opportunity to support the Major Projects team in their process of bidding new work and working with the estimating team. This is a 4-month opportunity that will work in our downtown Vancouver head office. The student intern will have the following duties in this role:

Being mentored by Senior and Chief Estimators in bidding projects including construction approach

Pursuing various projects including a combination of bid-build, design-build and PPP projects ranging from bridges, tunnels, highways to water & wastewater treatment

Working with estimate teams on bid preparations including Quantity takeoff and updating estimate software with quantities Subcontractor/Vendor solicitation Subcontractor/Vendor Quote comparisons Inserting quotes into estimate software Assisting with means and methods for project construction Assisting in design build process and working with design teams

Preparing portions of estimates utilizing Hard Dollar Estimating software

Preparing portions of schedules utilizing Primavera P6 software

Participate in tender closing

Working with partners estimating teams

Preparation of handover documents to site team for successful bids

What You Bring to the Team:

Currently enrolled in a university or technical college diploma in Civil Engineering or Construction Management

A valid driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract is an asset

Proven ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines for normal functions and special assignments.

Attention to detail, mathematical, analytical skills and accuracy.

Ability to build positive working relationships with internal and external clients.

Service orientation and ability to work effectively with a team environment.

Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.

Hourly Wage - $23.00 - $25.00 per hour
