Our Ideal Candidate
We are looking for an Intermediate Structural Engineer with a strong background in construction engineering in the infrastructure sector to join our team, based out of our Vancouver office. As the successful candidate, you will have the opportunity to plan, coordinate, execute, and manage the design of a variety of structural projects. You will work in a team environment, preparing structural engineering designs and related documents.
You will work on a variety of projects helping to lead with our team of engineers, EITs, designers and project managers.
A Day in the Life
Lead preliminary to detailed design of infrastructure structures, including concrete foundations, concrete and steel bridges, support of excavation components, and other miscellaneous components such as steel frames, connections and temporary structures.Carry out estimates of project costs, complex analysis and calculations, design review, preparation of reports, proposals, and contract documentationCollaborate with the project team, comprised of engineers, designers, project coordinators, and others, to develop drawings and specificationsPerform new structural designs, evaluate existing structures, and perform inspectionsInteract with clients to support ongoing engineering projects and to develop new clients and new projects for Allnorth’s teamInterface directly with project managers (PMs), team members, contractors, and others to clearly define project requirements and expectationsEnsure completion of work within allotted schedules and budgets and with high-quality standardsProactively resolve performance, scope, and schedule issues with the PMs as they ariseOffer support, mentoring, and guidance to junior team members and EITs
What You’ll Bring to the Team
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, specialized in structural engineeringRegistered as a P.Eng. in British Columbia and eligible for registration in other provinces (Ontario preferred)6-10 years of relevant experience in construction engineering and infrastructure design, preferably within a consulting environmentExperience with finite element analysis of structures, dynamic analysis, and reasonable knowledge in seismic designExperience working with national and provincial design codes and standardsExcellent communication skills (interpersonal and written) and proven ability to collaborate with team members and clients in a multi-disciplined environmentTechnical competence and strong attention to detailAbility to balance and prioritize multiple projects and priorities
