What you will do:

  • Develop and optimize construction methods and sequences in collaboration with project teams.
  • Prepare detailed method statements, risk assessments, and technical documentation.
  • Analyze project drawings, specifications, methods and work sequences to identify required temporary works.
  • Identify the optimal options for executing temporary works, aligning them with the overall planning and methods, and anticipating site-specific challenges.
  • Design temporary works such as complex formwork and falsework, hoisting and jacking systems, excavation and shoring systems, complex lifting/rigging devices, temporary bridges, pile templates, cofferdams and access systems
  • Coordinate and collaborate with technicians to produce fabrication models and drawings for temporary structures.
  • Prepare calculations and engineering documents related to M&TW.
  • Supervise EITs or colleagues in the preparation of calculations and engineering documents related to M&TW.
  • Participate in the internal quality control process for engineering documents.
  • Ensure all designs and calculations are in accordance with industry codes and standards.
  • Authenticate engineering documents for temporary structures.
  • Provide construction team with technical support, field reviews and certificate of conformity.
  • Act as a relevant and credible technical resource with stakeholders.

What you need to know:

  • A full professional engineer’s license from EGBC (or another Canadian provincial engineering regulator)
  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience on civil & infrastructure projects.
  • High proficiency with structural engineering software such as Advance Design or finite element analysis software.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Strong knowledge of construction techniques, structural analysis, and temporary works design.
  • Possess excellent technical knowledge in multiple types of temporary works
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, analytical, organizational and coordination skills.
  • Initiative with a focus on achieving results under complex and demanding challenges.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Have know-how, be thorough and strive for accuracy, precision and compliance with standards.
