The Jr. Technician position is an on‑site role in the Production department, and will report into the Supply Chain Manager.
Product Assembly (80%)- Assemble a variety of mechanical and electrical components efficiently to create a finished product.
- Perform electrical maintenance, installation and construction of a wide variety of equipment including industrial control systems, power distribution equipment, high voltage equipment and generators.
- Read and interpret drawings, circuit diagrams and electrical code specifications to determine wiring layouts for new or existing installations.
- Install, repair, and maintain electrical systems in accordance with appropriate codes (e.g. Canadian Electrical Code).
- Assist in inspection, testing, adjusting and evaluation of incoming electrical and electronic components and assemblies to ensure conformance with product specifications and tolerances.
- Install, operate, and maintain electrical and electronic systems as directed by the Engineering team.
- Other duties may be assigned.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, including root cause analysis as required.
- Consistently follow established test strategy, troubleshooting processes, and add value by providing suggestions towards continued process improvements.
- Effectively communicate issues among team members and other support groups.
- Continuously document and improve the procedural system of assembly.
- Provide suggestions for manufacturing optimization.
- 3 years of experience as an electrician/apprentice, production technician experience in an electromechanical manufacturing environment, or a combination of both.
- Knowledge of Canadian Electrical Code or comparable standards.
- Experience with electronics and electrical systems (AC and DC).
- Ability to lift 20 to 50 lbs and stand for long periods of time.
- Excellent hands‑on ability and attention to detail.
- Ability to work well in a team environment and with minimal supervision.
- Self‑starter and ability to adapt to quick changes in production demands.
- Already has their Forklift license (or is willing to obtain it).
- Experience with building prototypes.
- Experience with low voltage or extra low voltage control systems.
- Marine or automobile electrical experience.
- Experience using soldering equipment and power tools (e.g. power drill, saw).
