Capital Home Energy is a BC-based Energy Design firm and Licensed Service Organization with Registered Energy Advisors through Natural Resources Canada (NRCan). We support builders across BC with Ener Guide Ratings, BC Energy Step Code compliance, blower door testing, Net Zero homes, and high-performance home consulting, helping create homes that are durable, comfortable, and energy efficient.
We are hiring a Junior Energy Advisor and will train the right person into a fully capable Energy Advisor (including support toward required exams and field skills). This is a great fit if you’ve worked in residential construction and want a career that blends job sites + office work + client interaction (without living on the tools forever).
What You ll Learn & DoWith hands-on coaching, you ll learn to:
- Support energy modeling for new and existing homes
- Assist with blower door testing (pre-drywall + final) and field documentation
- Understand key Step Code targets and how builders can meet them
- Read plans, interpret assemblies, and communicate findings professionally
- Prepare reports and coordinate next steps with builders and homeowners
- Build long-term relationships. This is a referral-driven business
- Currently living on Vancouver Island (Comox Valley/Campbell River area preferred)
- Valid BC driver s license + reliable personal vehicle (mileage reimbursed; company vehicle may be available later)
- Minimum 1 year construction experience (site exposure required)
- Strong English communication skills
- Legally entitled to work in Canada (e.g., citizen, PR)
- Comfortable learning technology (files, apps, reports, basic workflows)
- Started or passed the NRCan Foundation Level Exam
- Interest in building science (insulation/air barrier/ventilation basics)
- Familiar with BC Energy Step Code or residential code environment
- Comfortable speaking with builders and homeowners (confident + friendly)
- Confident, outgoing, and professional
- Independent and reliable (shows up, follows through, solves problems)
- Coachable and committed to learning
- Career-focused (this is a long-term path, not a one-year stop)
- Full-time, permanent, on-site role with local travel
- Annual starting base salary: $55,000 to $65,000 CAD
- (Compensation will be based on experience, will be reviewed annually, and will increase along with performance) + up to an annual 6% of salary bonus.
