Part‑Time French Tutor (English & Math as a bonus)

Join Oxford Learning East Vancouver as a part‑time French teacher/tutor/coach. Ignite your passion for helping students succeed – en français!

We teach students HOW to learn French. We help students improve their academic and study skills in a small group setting. We have a lot of fun! Our class sizes are small with a maximum of three students per teacher. We provide all of the curriculum and lessons. Teachers do not need to lesson plan.

Position Requirements

• All Teacher‑Tutors work during after‑school and evening hours (4:00pm‑8:00pm) and some Saturdays (10:00am‑3:00pm). A commitment until the end of the school year is preferred. Continuing through the summer is even better. Reliable attendance is a must.
• Strong background in spoken and written French and English. Comfortable teaching up to Grade 9 level; up to Grade 12 preferred.
• Instruct class sessions entirely in French.
• In‑person role; must be able to commute to the location. No online position. Relocation packages are not available. Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree or similar certification in a relevant field.
• Fourth‑year university students with extensive tutoring experience will be considered.
• Teaching certification an asset.
• Good knowledge of the current Grades 9‑12 French core curriculum.
• Some experience teaching/tutoring French at a Grade 9‑12 (or equivalent) level.
• Strong English written and oral communication skills.
• Strong French skills and ability to guide students’ understanding.
• Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time.

Responsibilities

• Teaching up to three students at a time at different levels.
• Teaching online and in‑person.
• Following the Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies.
• Filling in post‑lesson notes.
• Completing daily student communication updates.
• Maintaining a friendly and professional manner at all times.

Job Type and Compensation

Part‑time. $19 – $23 per hour.

Schedule

• Evenings.
• Monday to Friday.
• Saturday availability.
