Position: 25-40 Instructional Designer (Temporary Full Time)

Overview

The Instructional Designer works within the centralized Employee Learning Team, managing the full‑cycle curriculum development process – from learning needs analysis, development of learning solutions, to evaluation of curriculum effectiveness. The role blends expertise in adult learning, advanced educational technology skills, and consultation to partner with stakeholders and deliver training that supports the organization’s goals and vision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify organizational learning needs and opportunities, review training requests based on strategic direction, and plan, design, and develop course content.
  • Encourage knowledge sharing and support application of learning through coaching, communities of practice, and super‑users.
  • Design and facilitate team development sessions to enhance team functioning and engagement; advise leaders and employees to apply learning and improve interpersonal effectiveness.
  • Recommend and implement learning policies, processes, and practices that align with business goals and ensure consistency across programs.
  • Establish and track key learning metrics; monitor internal and external trends and issues.
  • Design learning plans using applied learning theories and concepts for delivery across training modalities.
  • Design and build multimedia resources, including video, interactive e‑learning courses, and webpages.
  • Develop facilitator guides, train‑the‑trainer resources, and performance support aids.
  • Develop and manage infrastructure and internal offerings in the learning management system.
  • Create course content that accommodates a diverse and inclusive learning environment to enhance participant experience.
  • Facilitate training for employees using various delivery methods, learning methodologies, and technologies; schedule and coordinate internal instructors, materials, and resources.
  • Evaluate learning programs, instructors, and delivery methods to ensure responsiveness to learner needs, return on investment, and make revisions accordingly.
  • Develop evaluations for learning outcomes that support organizational goals.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of proven curriculum and instructional design experience for adult learners in both instructor‑led and e‑learning environments.
  • Post‑secondary education in adult learning, instructional design, or a related field.
  • Proven instructional design portfolio.
  • Knowledge of instructional theories and models (e.g., ADDIE, Gagne’s nine events, Keller’s ARCS‑V).
  • Experience with rapid prototyping and agile instructional design models.
  • Familiarity with evaluation models such as Kirkpatrick’s Four Levels and the Case Success Method.
  • Excellent technology and software skills – MS Office, learning management systems, authoring tools (Articulate, Adobe Captivate).
  • Advanced proficiency in course authoring and video editing tools (Articulate 360, Camtasia).
  • Experience developing asynchronous and synchronous learning experiences.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize work.
  • Superior communication skills, including facilitation and public speaking.
  • Technical curiosity and willingness to experiment with new technologies and instructional models.
  • Heightened sensitivity to equity, diversity, inclusion (EDI), and accessibility issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage, collaborate, and influence others; champion change.
