Crofton House School is seeking an exceptional Ministry of Education Certified Kindergarten teacher to work with a team of educators in our Senior Kindergarten program. You will be part of a collaborative teaching team supporting the positive growth and development of young girls in the Crofton House School Early Childhood Education Centre’s two year Kindergarten program. Responsibilities- Collaborate with a dynamic team of teachers and early childhood educators to co-construct and deliver a high-quality Senior Kindergarten program.
- Work closely with a second teacher to plan all aspects of learning within our SK program.
- Create a space that supports the social and emotional needs of young girls.
- Prioritize play as a foundation for learning, integrating it into all aspects of your teaching.
- Plan and implement dynamic, interactive lessons with a focus on a student-centred, inquiry-based approach to learning.
- Plan outdoor learning experiences that make full use of Crofton House School’s 10-acre campus to support physical and cognitive development.
- Use thoughtful documentation and assessment strategies to reflect on student learning and growth, including using See Saw to track and share progress.
- Provide personalized instruction and learning support for individual students and work closely with the Learning Resource team as appropriate.
- Build strong partnerships with parents through daily connection, termly reports, and regular in-person meetings.
- Contribute to the wider Junior School community by participating in co-curricular programming.
- Engage actively in professional development opportunities, including joining a Professional Learning Community, collaborating with colleagues to improve teaching practices and student outcomes, and participating in school-wide learning initiatives.
- Draw inspiration from educational research, such as Costa and Kallick's Habits of Mind, Harvard Project Zero’s Making Thinking Visible, and Debora Macnamara’s Rest, Play, Grow, to enhance your teaching practice.
- B.C. Ministry of Education Teaching Certification (required)
- Early Childhood Educator or Education Assistant Certificate (desirable)
- A deep understanding of play-based learning and its role in child development.
- Experience leveraging outdoor environments for meaningful learning.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
- Creativity, flexibility, and patience in supporting young learners.
- Strong communication skills and a commitment to fostering safe, caring spaces for children.
