Crofton House School is seeking an experienced elementary school educator to teach French as an additional language. French is taught in the Junior School from Grade 1-7. The position focused on working with Grade 5-7 students. You will be part of a collaborative teaching team supporting the positive growth and development of young girls in the Junior School. Teaching and learning is guided and enhanced by the principles of a student-centred, collaborative approach with an inquiry-based focus to deepen learning for young students.
This is a short-term contract position to cover a leave of absence.

- Create a warm and inviting environment in which young students can learn
- Teach French as an additional language in our Junior School with a focus on Grade 5, 6 and 7. Establish lively, engaging classes
- Integrate French culture into lessons
- Ensure continuity of language learning competencies in a vertical and horizontal manner across the Junior School in collaboration with colleagues
- Collaborate with all Junior School teachers to ensure student needs are met
- Differentiate expectations for language learners
- Implement and integrate instructional technology to support learning
- Implement the BC Curriculum for French as a second language, with a focus on the application of the Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling approach.
- Participate in the Junior School co‑curricular program
Qualifications:
- Native‑like French language skills (oral and written)
- Familiarity with TPRS an asset
- B.C. Ministry of Education Certificate or Independent School Certification
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent - Understanding of how to support diverse learning styles at an elementary level
- Collaborative and energetic with a passion for teaching
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to be innovative, flexible, highly organized with attention to detail
- Energy, commitment, and readiness to participate in the co‑curricular program and the diverse life of the school community
