Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Academic instructor leadership, administrative duties and community engagement
    • Demonstrates sensitivity and respect for the diverse academic, socio‑economic, ethnic, cultural, and religious backgrounds of students.
    • Enhances the student learning experience and provides mentorship.
    • Advise and support students to achieve their educational goals.
    • Efficiently completes college administrative tasks (e.g., attendance, grades, administrative forms).
    • Facilitates approved academic accommodations in collaboration with Academic Advisors.
    • Displays a commitment to efficient completion of administrative tasks.
  • Teaching & curriculum
    • Teach a minimum of one and a maximum of five sections each term, as assigned.
    • Demonstrate a passion for student‑centred teaching and flexibility in teaching style.
    • Adhere to scheduled class times, maintain office hours, and attend meetings.
    • Establish a student‑centred classroom environment and engage students in the learning process.
    • Manage the learning environment through administration of college policies.
    • Communicate effectively with students in a timely manner (e.g., via LCV communication system, email).
    • Schedule, supervise, debrief, and evaluate students in clinical, internship, observation, field experience, and integrated learning settings.
    • Display a commitment to teaching excellence.
  • Curriculum & quality assurance
    • Design, develop, and deliver course curriculum, including assignments, rubrics, handouts, lectures, labs, studios, and presentations.
    • Facilitate student learning and provide effective instruction and feedback.
    • Work with faculty and administrators in developing program curriculum, standards, and policies.
    • Support compliance requirements for regulatory bodies (e.g., DQAB, PTIB).
    • Commit to curriculum and quality assurance best practices.
  • Professional development
    • Participate fully in the Faculty Development Review process.
    • Remain current in academic or program discipline through professional memberships, conferences, industry practices, licensure, or certification.
    • Engage in continuing education (workshops, MOOCs, etc.) as per individual development plan.
    • Participate in LCV-sponsored professional development activities and events.
    • Commit to continuous learning and a growth mindset.

    • Maintain a presence on campus with regular office hours for student support.
    • Relate and apply professional experience to enhance learning.

Knowledge
  • Bachelor’s Degree (minimum) in design or related discipline (Fashion, Graphic, Interior, Jewellery, etc.). Master’s preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years related and increasingly responsible experience in academia or industry.
  • Educational/teacher training or advanced certification preferred.
  • Excellent computer literacy and proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and Microsoft Office 365.
  • Sustainable Design Ambassador.
