School Based Resource Teacher & LAC - Math/Science (Continuing Full-Time with Benefits) at Vancouver Technical Secondary School. 1.0 FTE. Only candidates who are fully qualified will be considered for this position.

Position details- 1 block of Junior LAC Math
- 1 block of Junior LAC Science
- 1 block of Senior LAC Math
- 1 block of Senior LAC Science
- 3 blocks of Resource Teacher
- Support the Learning Assistance Program (LAC) for students in Grades 8–12 with mild to moderate intellectual disabilities, focusing on functional academics, community awareness, health and physical fitness, consumer education, vocational preparation, and work experience.
- Deliver Mathematics and Science to Junior and Senior LAC students; contribute to improving students’ social and academic performance.
- Work as part of a team (2 LAC support teachers and 2 SSAs) and collaborate with colleagues to support student outcomes.
- Support the LAC program through a variety of assessments (curriculum-based, informal, and formal) and direct instruction using diverse teaching strategies.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized and class-wide positive behaviour support plans; liaise with parents, school and district staff, and outside agencies.
- Coordinate with SSAs to support students in the program and related elective courses.
- Provide case management for senior students in the LAC program.
- Participate in the Learning Hub team (4 other teachers and 2 SSAs) to support students in integrated academics and transitions; collaborate with subject teachers to enhance student outcomes.
- Conduct a variety of assessments (casual observation, curriculum-based, informal, and formal).
- Implement and evaluate individualized education plans (IEPs) and individualized and class-wide positive behaviour support plans.
- Provide direct instruction using diverse teaching and management strategies.
- Support students in integrated academics and assist with transitions.
- Liaise with parents, school, and district staff, and outside agencies as needed.
- Completion of a Bachelor of Education
- Completion of one of the following:
Master’s in Special Education, Diploma in Special Education, and/or one year Full-Time Continuing contract as a Special Education/Resource Teacher - Education/experience teaching Secondary Mathematics and Science
- BC Teaching Certificate
- Registration with the Teacher Qualification Service
