Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized AutoCAD Technician to support our design team with the production of accurate, well-coordinated technical drawings. The ideal candidate is a self‑starter with strong drafting fundamentals, excellent communication skills, and experience working within architectural, interior design, or construction environments. This role is critical in ensuring our documentation is clear, consistent, and aligned with project standards.

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

• Produce high-quality technical drawings, plans, elevations, sections, and details using AutoCAD.
• Update drawings based on markups from designers, senior staff, and consultants.
• Maintain drawing accuracy, line weights, layers, annotations, and graphic standards.
• Assist with transforming design concepts and sketches into clear technical documentation.
• Prepare as-built drawings from site measurements or redlines.

• Support designers and project managers in coordinating drawing packages.
• Ensure drawing sets are complete, consistent, and issued on schedule.
• Integrate information from consultants (mechanical, electrical, structural, millwork, etc.) into drawing sets.
• Flag discrepancies or missing information proactively.

• Follow established CAD standards and contribute to improving them.
• Maintain organized file structures, naming conventions, and drawing logs.
• Perform self-checks to ensure completeness and accuracy before issuing drawings.

• Assist with creating and updating standard blocks, title sheets, and templates.
• Provide basic troubleshooting or guidance for team members working in AutoCAD.
• Help enhance drafting workflows and efficiency.

• Proficient in AutoCAD (2D drafting required; 3D considered an asset).
• Strong understanding of drafting conventions, construction documentation, and building terminology.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural and interior design drawings.
• Solid understanding of the BC Building Code and its application within working drawings.
• Experience with PDF markup tools (Bluebeam, Adobe Acrobat, or similar).

• Strong organizational and time-management skills; able to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
• Clear and professional communication skills.
• Proactive problem-solving approach with a willingness to ask questions and clarify information.

• Diploma or certificate in Architectural Technology, Building Technology, Interior Design, Drafting, or related field.
• 5–7 years of experience in drafting for architecture, interiors, or construction.
• Experience with multi-family residential, commercial, or hospitality projects is an asset.

$66,000–$85,000 CAD Per Year
