Opportunity

We are seeking a Strategic Facilities Planner to join our team in Vancouver
. You will be responsible for developing and implementing long‑term facilities strategies that align with organizational goals. This role ensures that infrastructure planning supports operational needs, future growth and sustainability objectives while optimizing space utilisation and resources.

Our Strategic Programming & Planning (SPP) studio is an interdisciplinary team who work with clients to assess the feasibility of contemplated projects. We review the condition and capacity of existing facilities. We work closely with our clients to develop their facility vision and project future space and infrastructure requirements. We then translate that vision into a facility master plan, creating a step‑by‑step implementation plan.

Working with our Strategic Programming & Planning, Lifescape and broader team of architects, planners and interior designers, key responsibilities include:

Strategic Planning
  • Analyze industry or community trends, operational requirements, and future growth to inform infrastructure decisions.
  • Develop short‑ and long‑term facilities plans to support organizational objectives.
  • Consider landscape and environmental factors in master planning to create holistic, sustainable solutions.
  • Incorporate principles of wellness, accessibility, and placemaking into facility strategies.
Space and Capacity Management
  • Assess current facilities and identify opportunities for optimisation.
  • Forecast future space requirements and recommend solutions.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and clients, in‑person and virtually, to develop the project vision, gather input and solicit feedback on facility upgrades and/or new developments.
  • Develop and facilitate workshops and engagement sessions that explore cultural, social and environmental aspirations.
Project Coordination
  • Coordinate with architectural and engineering partners in the development of a facility master plan.
  • Contribute to client business cases and coordinate cost‑benefit analyses for proposed projects.
Data Analysis and Reporting
  • Gather and analyse data on facilities usage, capacity and performance.
  • Assess site conditions and regulatory requirements and their potential effects on facility development.
  • Develop reports and recommendations, including detailed functional programmes, needs assessments, gap analyses, feasibility studies and facility master plans.
Here’s what you bring to Kasian
  • Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Planning, Architecture, Interior Design, Exhibit Design, Urban Planning or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in functional programming, strategic facilities planning or a similar role.
  • Strong analytical, project management and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in reporting and space planning tools and software:
    Microsoft Suite, Adobe Creative Suite in particular, and InDesign is a must. Online survey or engagement tools, along with REVIT or AutoCAD, are an asset.
  • Ability to travel across Canada, with a focus on BC.
Core Competencies

  • Strong research and analysis skills.
  • Strong collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills. Experience with planning and undertaking public engagement is an asset.
  • Understanding of experiential design and its impact on user well‑being.
  • Ability to integrate architectural, landscape and interior perspectives into strategic planning. Site planning and/or interior space planning experience is an asset.

Salary starts at $80,000+ per annum, based on a 40‑hour work week. Actual compensation is subject to variations due to education, experience and skill set.
