As a Community Relations Student (CRS), You Will- Work closely with up to seven other post-secondary students representing the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority as ambassadors for the Port of Vancouver by implementing our outreach activities at community events across the Lower Mainland, primarily held on weekends, and/or support Canada Place signature events on location at Canada Place (Canada Together and Port Day)
- Promote the Port of Vancouver with an interactive promotional tent at external community events throughout the Lower Mainland, including the Vancouver International Children’s Festival, Surrey Fusion Festival and Boundary Bay Airshow
- Assist in planning and preparing for attendance at community events, including liaising with the community event organizer(s), packing event materials, and coordinating transportation
- Assist with event execution at community events including booth setup and tear down, playing games and engaging with visitors to the booth, and mascot handling and Leadership Student oversight
- Provide ongoing support for Salty the Seagull (our Mascot), including escorting Salty at events
- Provide ongoing support to secondary school students participating in our volunteer Leadership Program
- Provide guest services and promote the Port of Vancouver on-site at Canada Place, helping to draw connections between the port and Canada Place, through experiential tent and guest engagement, and during Canada Place signature events
- Narrate or support Burrard Inlet and Fraser River boat tours for a variety of groups, as required
- Assist at conferences, receptions, and events including set up, guest check-in, and tear down
- Assist the Events and Experience team with projects as required
- Perform other duties as assigned
- You are a full-time student who has completed at least one year of post-secondary education with plans to return to your studies in the fall semester in 2026, proof of education will be required
- As the successful candidate, you are an outgoing person with excellent verbal and written communication, along with exceptional interpersonal, presentation and teamwork skills
- You are enthusiastic, outgoing, customer service-oriented, reliable and a team player who is willing to roll up your sleeves to get the job done
- Previous experience in customer service, events or promotion work, and knowledge of a second language is an asset
- Preference will be given to candidates with a class 5 driver’s license

To be eligible for this role, you must be available to attend the community relations training from April 29 to May 8, 2026.
Location: Vancouver, Canada
Job type: Bargaining Unit, Seasonal, In-person. You can expect to work between 30 and 37.5 hours per week, depending on organizational needs. Please note that full‑time hours cannot be guaranteed. The schedule may include evenings and weekends, with occasional overtime as required.
Working environment: Requirement to travel within the Lower Mainland, with the requirement to work varying hours including most weekends.
