Job DescriptionWe are searching for an experienced and enthusiastic Senior Project Manager to join our Vancouver team. As Senior PM, you will primarily provide oversight and/or directly manage projects, ensuring corporate goals for safety, quality, budget, schedule and profitability are met.
Your Responsibilities Will Include- Monitor legal, contractual, and financial aspects of construction projects and develop and implement actions to mitigate potential risks and challenges.
- Oversight of project estimating; including subcontractor solicitation, through to subcontract buyout and contracting.
- Oversee construction tenders and negotiations.
- Monitor and report on project schedules and costs, margins and profitability.
- Review all construction cost reports and forecasts looking for early warning signs of potential risk and developing effective plans to overcome/mitigate.
- Manage project pre‑construction.
- Attend and participate in quarterly forecasting review meetings with management.
- Develop long lasting client relationships by managing client expectations and ensuring construction activities are aligned with federal requirements.
- Act as an escalation point to resolve issues referred by the client and/or project team.
- Track project execution lessons learned and share with the team for continuous improvement.
- Play a key role in securing new work by participating in project budgeting and estimates, working with subcontractors and/or participating in proposals and presentations.
- Implement and monitor governance.
- Build and lead a strong team that delivers profitable projects. Provide effective direction, coaching and support.
- Identify ongoing resource requirements based on current and upcoming projects. Update manpower schedule.
- Participate in recruitment activities, including scouting for potential candidates in the market, conducting interviews and approving new hires.
- Manage performance of team and provide ongoing feedback. Conduct annual reviews of direct reports and recommend/approve compensation adjustments. Conduct performance improvement and/or termination meetings.
- Successful completion of post‑secondary education in a relevant field such as engineering, construction management, construction project management, architecture studies, mechanical engineering.
- Over 7+ years of project management experience delivering multimillion dollar interior commercial construction projects at a general contractor level.
- Experience with construction management contracts.
- Ability to lead and motivate a team and serve as a role model and mentor.
- Detailed knowledge of construction methodology, process, and sequence.
- Strong financial knowledge and understanding of construction costs.
- Knowledge of the local and national construction market including costs of labour & resources.
- Ability to identify opportunities for improvement and make constructive suggestions for change.
- Ability to recognize, prioritize and mitigate project risks.
- Ability to communicate with tact and diplomacy, with strong negotiation and dispute resolution skills.
- Detail oriented, results driven with excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Tech savvy in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Project, etc) and project management software like CMIC and Plan Grid.
- $100,000 - $185,000 annually.
- Primary work location is 900 West Hastings Street, Vancouver with potential for work‑related travel.
- Exposure to construction work site environment in all seasons.
- On‑site and in‑office. This is not a hybrid or remote role.
