We are currently recruiting for a Legal Assistant to join our recently formed Intellectual Property Litigation group in our Vancouver Office. The successful candidate will assist in managing the practices of several Legal Professionals through the provision of administrative support.
Major Responsibilities
Maintain and organize a detailed BF systems to ensure crucial litigation deadlines are met.Attend to service and filing of Court documents.Preparing preliminary forms of court filings.Arrange examinations for discovery and Court bookings.Coordinate document workflow, including editing, compiling, printing, indexing and binding a large volume of documents, such as affidavits, applications records, books of authority, etc.Proactively provide legal professionals (LP) with administrative support to optimize practice efficiency: diarize important dates and maintain the Bring Forward (BF) system, maintain e-filing system and highlight actionable items; manage LPs calendar,.May act as first point of contact with clients and various internal and external stakeholders; respond and resolve problems as required.Maintain LPs workspace within a data management system (iManage).Complete file opening, including New Business Intake (NBI) and Know Your Client (KYC) requirements.Manage client billing process in collaboration with Billing Coordinator.Support client/business development activities, which includes the management of LP bios.Coordinate the logistics of internal and external client functions, external board/association meetings, etc.Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external clients, understand client businesses, practices and expectations.Maintain high level of professionalism, discretion and confidentiality at all times.Identify ways to improve processes and implement efficiencies.Performs other duties as assigned.Education and Experience
A minimum of three years’ litigation experience is required.Experience in IP litigation is strongly preferred.Knowledge and Skills
Familiarity with Federal Court and BC Supreme Court rules and procedures is requiredAttention to detailProficiency with iManage and MS OfficeSuperior organizational and multitasking skills with ability to effectively prioritize and manage timeExcellent communication skills (both oral and written), focused listening, interpersonal skillsSound judgement and analytical skillsAbility to handle pressure and remain calm when dealing with deadlines and large volumes of workIndependent worker and team playerPositive attitude, patience, resilience, willingness to demonstrate initiative and ownership of tasksReports

The range of expected compensation for this position is $60,000 - $80,000 annually. Compensation offered will be based on a variety of factors including job-related knowledge, skills and experience.
Working Conditions:
We are currently working in a hybrid work arrangement, which includes a requirement to work primarily in the office and flexibility to work remotely up to 2 days per week depending on business needs.
