About Us

At Davidson & Company our people are our strongest asset. From our humble beginnings in 1984, our entrepreneurial drive has grown our firm to nearly 200 strong and established us as one of the largest independent CPA firms in B.C. and the leading public auditor in Canada. From our offices in the hub of downtown Vancouver, you’ll be introduced to the tax, audit and advisory services we provide across our diversified global client base, from our stronghold in mining & exploration to the emerging cryptocurrency and cannabis industries.

And unlike the other behemoth accounting firms, at Davidson we offer the opportunity to explore and experience multiple facets of the accounting profession. From day one, you’ll have the opportunity to work alongside our team of top‑notch industry leaders as you carve your own path and make an impact here at Davidson.

About

The Role

Davidson is seeking a Senior Accountant, U.S. Tax to join our growing Tax Practice. This role is heavily focused on U.S. personal income tax (approximately 70–80%), with additional exposure to U.S. corporate tax (20–30%) across partnerships and corporations. You’ll play a key role in delivering high‑quality tax compliance and planning services while working closely with managers, partners, and junior team members.

This position is offered on a hybrid basis, balancing flexibility with in‑person collaboration that supports learning, connection, and high‑quality client service.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Prepare and review U.S. personal income tax returns (the core focus of the role), including filings for high‑net‑worth individuals and cross‑border considerations.
  • Support U.S. corporate tax compliance for partnerships, S‑Corporations, and C‑Corporations.
  • Research U.S. tax legislation, regulations, and guidance, and clearly document technical positions and conclusions.
  • Identify tax risks, efficiencies, and planning opportunities for both individual and corporate clients.
  • Assist with multi‑state filings, apportionment, and nexus considerations.
  • Support responses to IRS and state tax authority notices, audits, and inquiries.
  • Act as a trusted point of contact for clients – gathering information, answering questions, and explaining tax outcomes in clear, practical terms.
  • Review the work of junior team members and provide thoughtful coaching and mentorship.
  • Collaborate with managers and partners to manage deadlines, workflow, and client deliverables – especially during busy season.
  • Stay current on changes in U.S. tax law and contribute to best practices across the tax team.
  • Keep learning and growing through training, hands‑on experience, and exposure to a wide range of client scenarios.
What You’ll Bring To The Table

You’re more than your credentials—you’re thoughtful, collaborative, and ready to make an impact. Here’s what will set you up for success:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • Strong hands‑on experience with U.S. personal income tax, including complex individual and high‑net‑worth filings.
  • Solid working knowledge of U.S. corporate tax, including partnerships and corporations.
  • A minimum of 2–5+ years of U.S. tax experience in public accounting.
  • Proven experience preparing and reviewing U.S. federal and state tax returns.
  • Comfort navigating complex tax issues, researching technical matters, and documenting conclusions.
  • Confidence working independently while collaborating closely with managers and partners.
  • Strong communication skills—you can translate complex tax matters into clear, practical guidance.
Credentials & Professional Development
  • CPA designation is considered an asset, not a requirement.
  • Candidates without a CPA are encouraged to apply if they bring deep U.S. personal tax experience and solid exposure to U.S. corporate tax.
  • Davidson values technical skill, judgment, and client impact as much as formal credentials.
  • Support is available for those who choose to pursue CPA or additional U.S. tax certifications.
What’s in It for You?
  • Hybrid flexibility that supports work‑life‑balance while keeping you connected to your team.
  • Comprehensive health coverage starting day one, including extended benefits, Telus Health EAP, and Maple Virtual…
