Welcome to CPAB – Canada’s Public Company Audit Regulator. The Canadian Public Accountability Board oversees public accounting firms that audit reporting issuers. We promote audit quality through proactive regulation, robust audit assessments, dialogue with domestic and international stakeholders, and practicable insights that inform capital market participants and contribute to public confidence in the integrity of financial reporting. Qualifications

and competencies
  • Minimum of 10 years progressive public company accounting and audit experience at a Big Four or other national accounting firm.
  • CPA designation is required.
  • In-depth technical knowledge of IFRS and Canadian Auditing Standards; US GAAP is also an asset.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Ability to travel, approximately up to 6 weeks per year.
  • Preferably bilingual (French/English) language capabilities.

What you will be doing
  • Conduct inspections of audit firms (both public company audit files and the firm’s quality-management systems) in accordance with CPAB’s inspection methodology, including discussions with engagement teams and leadership.
  • Maintain control of assigned inspection work, meeting deadlines and ensuring efficient and effective execution.
  • Foster professional, productive, and respectful working relationships with colleagues, firms, and other external stakeholders, reflecting positively on CPAB and advancing the integrity of financial reporting.
  • Prepare high-quality written reports.
  • Participate in projects aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of CPAB’s inspection processes.
  • Support stakeholder engagement and thought‑leadership initiatives.
  • Travel throughout the year as required.
