Axiom Builders is seeking a motivated Accounts Payable Specialist for a one year contract. We are implementing new systems and processes; the first 6 months will be more focused on data entry, then more focused on customers and vendor communication. This role is an opportunity for an entry-level professional to gain experience with high-volume, complex accounting while servicing numerous stakeholders both internally and externally.

• Promote a customer-service and employee-friendly culture within the Accounts Payable/Accounting department and within the company;
• Communicate with vendors, subcontractors, and staff at all levels (site and office) to gather information and respond to inquiries in a timely professional manner;
• Review incoming invoices for compliance requirements, e.g. ensure accuracy of taxes on invoices (GST and PST), accurate coding and approvals before processing;
• Code, post, and process invoices for payments within established timelines;
• Process employee expense reimbursements;
• Reconcile vendor account and credit card statements;
• Assist with other AP, accounting tasks, and projects as required.

The ideal candidate is a fast learner, attentive to detail, coupled with exceptional organizational and time management skills that allow them to work quickly, as well as accurately, in a results-oriented environment. This person will have the ability to work both individually and as part of a team, while always demonstrating a positive, enthusiastic attitude. We are looking for someone who excels at interpersonal relations and is comfortable reaching out to a variety of stakeholders at all levels of the business, both on site and office.

• At least one to two (1-2) years of experience in accounting or a related field;
• Degree, diploma, or certification in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related field;
• Excellent business communication skills, with both verbal and written communications;
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.);
• Proficient at working in a digital and paper-free environment;
• Some experience in accounting or administration will be considered an asset;
• Experience with Acumatica ERP and/or Titanium Timber scan systems will be considered an asset;
• Prior experience in a construction or job costing environment will be considered an asset.
