Job SummaryReporting to the Payroll and Benefits Manager, the Payroll and Benefits Administrator is responsible for contributing to the efficient and effective operations of the Payroll Department through timely and accurate processing of salary and wage payments, benefits changes and enrollments, while ensuring compliance with applicable unions and governments. The Manager supports the Administrator as required.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities- Prepare, audit, and correct assigned payroll input through Payroll Guardian on a bi‑weekly basis for union and non‑union employees, covering salary and hourly, for Park Place facilities.
- Maintain and update assigned employee information, including address changes, wage/salary increases, transfers, new employees, terminations, etc., and prepare ROEs as required.
- Administer assigned group benefits plans: set up new members, process benefit changes, calculate payroll deductions/taxable benefits, verify billing, reconcile payroll, and audit the benefit process.
- Communicate with site payroll/administration assistants on items that may impact pay.
- Verify journal entries bi‑weekly for entry, verification, and posting by Accountant – Junior.
- Perform miscellaneous duties including monitoring and reconciling garnishees and other deductions, processing payroll AP cheque requests, maintaining regular reports (sick, vacation, seniority), ad‑hoc reporting, and responding to queries.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in high‑volume computerized payroll.
- Preferable experience in a unionized environment.
- Intermediate MS Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Payroll Certification (PCP) or working toward a designation.
- Experience with Payroll Guardian (PGI) or ADP WFN is an advantage.
- Equivalences may be considered.
- Current membership with the Canadian Payroll Association.
- Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure and deadlines.
- Ability to work well under minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
- Professionalism and discretion with confidential information.
