Quality Inspector
Location: Van Wert, Ohio
Department: Quality
Role Profile & Pay Grade: Non-Exempt, VI
Summary of ResponsibilitiesInspects and tests functions of the vehicle, manufactured parts and purchased inventory. Performs the vehicle detail process as needed and interacts directly with production, sales, dealer/customer to support scheduling and throughput improvement objectives.
Summary of Activities- Receive, review, and interpret instructions, prints, and work orders for each unit
- Evaluate each truck for build correctness to build related documentation
- Complete the appropriate production, quality and road inspections, testing, and record results
- Ensure all required documents are properly completed and filed
- Inspect each finished vehicle in-process and prior to customer inspection
- Ensure the vehicle meets the customer work order requirements and correct any nonconformities
- Inspect manufactured and purchased parts for quality level and compliance with quality requirements
- Perform general cleaning and detailing of the interior and exterior of the vehicle, including washing/cleaning of truck, stripping and waxing of vehicle’s flooring, and caulking of the interior module
- Coordinate resolution of defects and non-conformities
- Identify and communicate issues
- Complete finished vehicle documentation (weights, road test, photos, final stage manufacturing labels, payload, KKK documentation, acceptance, and invoice paperwork)
- Inspect and complete all minor paint and compartment lining touch-up needed for quality acceptance of the vehicle
- Identify paint and multispec defects, ensure proper touch-up and verification
- Support quality programs and processes including PDCA problem solving, 5 Why, PPAP and APQP
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Two years of inspection or a related field experience preferred
- No driver’s license violations for insurability; CDL license as needed
- Communicate with all personnel regarding quality expectations
- Direct interaction with dealer/customer and internal sales staff
- Regular communication with office personnel, production associates, dealers, and customers
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple objectives and meet schedules
Physical Requirements
- Complete all work as detailed in the summary of responsibilities at acceptable productivity and quality levels
- Demonstrate all technical skills/competencies and core skills as referenced in this job specification at acceptable productivity and quality levels
- Demonstrate reasonable and reliable attendance
- Maintain any required licensures and/or certifications
- Operate all job-related equipment or machines at acceptable productivity and quality levels
- Successfully pass a post‑offer drug test, as well as random, reasonable suspicion and post‑accident drug and alcohol tests thereafter
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds with assistance; regularly required to walk, talk and hear, reach with hands and arms, stand, crouch and kneel; frequently required to use hand-to-finger dexterity to handle objects, tools, and controls; occasionally required to stoop or crawl
