Registered Telemetry Unit Nurse | Van Wert, Ohio

A skilled registered nurse with telemetry experience is needed for a contract position providing specialized care to a diverse patient population in a 36-bed stepdown unit. This role focuses on patients requiring cardiac monitoring, including chest pain evaluation, CHF exacerbations, and pre/post cardiac catheterization care. The unit also cares for alcohol detox patients, emphasizing a broad range of medical and telemetry needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans.
• Administer medications safely and manage intravenous drips such as Cardizem, Nitro, and Heparin, with dosing titration.
• Serve as a patient advocate and coordinate care across multiple hospital departments.
• Respond promptly to changes in patient conditions, using clinical judgment and inquiry.
• Manage patients with multi-system organ failure and trauma, ensuring physiologic and psychosocial stability.
• Collaborate with patients' families and interdisciplinary teams to support patient-centered care.
• Utilize electronic health records effectively to document and coordinate care.
• Prioritize safety, infection control, and quality improvement initiatives on the unit.

Qualifications/Desired

Experience:

• Current RN license with eligibility to practice under state or compact rules.
• Minimum 1 year nursing experience; acute care hospital experience preferred.
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Certification.
• Dysrhythmia exam required; study guide available.
• Experience with telemetry and cardiac care, including pre/post cardiac cath patients.
• Proficiency in titrating drips, managing ports, PICC lines, chest tubes, and JP drains.
• Ability to work 12-hour night shifts (every other weekend and holiday).
• Familiarity with Alaris infusion pumps and medical technology used in stepdown units.
