Are you ready to shape the financial future of Central? As a Senior Data Scientist
, you will have a direct impact on our bottom line by developing next generation modeling programs that deliver innovative segmentation and smarter business decisions. This role offers the unique opportunity to build specialized solutions in pricing optimization and behavioral modeling, unlocking insights that influence strategy at every level. Senior Data Scientists have a seat at the table in shaping the both short‑and long‑term strategic goals for the department and additionally play a key role role in talent development.

Senior Data Scientists additionally have direct lines of contact and collaborate deeply with peers in Product and Actuary teams and often present work to pricing leadership. Key Responsibilities of the Role
  • Develops methods and models for mining and extracting data and applies statistics and algorithms necessary to derive insights for Central Insurance
  • Leads more junior staff and teams on development of automated insights generation framework for Central Insurance’s business partners
  • Conducts deep statistical analysis, including predictive and prescriptive modeling
  • Maintains expert‑level knowledge on industry trends, emerging technologies, and new methodologies and applies it to projects as well as using it to guide team members
  • Serves as a leading member on automation and analytical projects, collaborating across various functions
  • Works across functions to understand business problems and applies expertise to develop models and insights necessary to provide actionable solutions; helps identify the sources, methods, parameters, and procedures to be used; may also communicate with stakeholders on project scope and timelines
  • Gathers and assimilates data according to the project plan; works with the team to discuss analysis and findings
  • Prepares final recommendations and often delivers recommendations to stakeholders through the communication of complex information
  • Executes projects with full adherence to enterprise project management practices by participating in formal and informal training
  • Provides mentoring and guidance to lower‑level employees through peer‑reviews
  • Modeling documentation and response to DOI objections
  • Involvement with model deployment including QA testing and validating outputs
Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Statistics or Analytics or related field and 2 years of related experience
  • Or Bachelor’s degree in Statistics or Analytics or related field and 4 years of related experience
  • Or 6 years related experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in building and deploying risk segmentation models in the insurance field
  • Experience in the insurance industry
  • Experience in performing predictive analytics in a large‑scale enterprise application
  • Programming experience (Python or R, SQL)
  • Experience using multiple data systems and sources (SMSS, Databricks, DBT)
  • Experience with visualization tools such as Power BI Plotly, Shiny, Streamlit
  • Demonstrated ability to build and utilize APIs
  • Exposure to version control (GIthub) and containers (Docker, Podman)
  • Exposure to Cloud computing in Azure
