Overview
Purpose of the position:
Tests and conducts routine and non-routine analysis of raw materials, in-process, and finished product, using a variety of testing devices and procedures to maintain product quality.
Essential responsibilities are described below, focusing on quality analysis, data collection, team participation, and adherence to company systems and policies.
Responsibilities- Test and inspect products at various stages of the production process; collect, measure, and weigh samples as needed; compile and evaluate statistical data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products.
- Perform analytical tests on samples using instrumentation and equipment; conduct calculations to measure factors; test product to verify factors.
- Collect and record results of sampling and testing to maintain a record of product quality.
- Assist in implementing a total quality management program and/or train others on total quality management.
- Participate as a member of the team; contribute to ongoing development, communication, and implementation of team concepts, programs, and policies; coordinate work to ensure best practices with all team members.
- Attend appropriate team meetings; foster cohesiveness regarding major issues; identify areas lacking cohesiveness and raise them to the team leader; work with the team to resolve issues and reinforce actions to achieve synergy within the organization.
- Understand Simmons operating systems principles and objectives; be familiar with established operating systems (e.g., quality, security, office environment, company policies, LEAN); communicate concerns and improvement ideas as needed.
- Perform other duties as necessary in support of business objectives; this description is not intended to limit the thinking and creativity of the person in this function.
Standing for the shift; bending at the waist; use of both hands; walking; lift up to 55 lbs.; may tolerate temperatures above 100°F or below 32°F; working environment may be wet, cold, and surfaces may be slippery. Personal safety is required; PPE includes hair nets, hearing protection, gloves, apron, sleeve guards (if required), mesh gloves (when using knives/scissors), and smock.

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent; must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English; must be able to pass the company-issued Quality Assurance test.
