Job Title: Sanitation Lead
Reports To: Department Supervisor
FLSA Status: Hourly Non-Exempt
3rd Shift
Hours: Sunday, 8:00pm-6:30am, Monday-Thursday, 10:30pm-7:00am
Overtime required based on production need.
$21.00/hour
The role of the Sanitation Lead requires a combination of leadership, technical knowledge, and a commitment to food safety and quality. The role of a Sanitation Lead requires an understanding of food safety regulations, experience in food manufacturing, and the ability to work with all level of supervision.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesOther duties may be assigned.
- Assist in Overseeing All Sanitation Operations:
Ensure compliance with food safety and quality standards, maintain a safe/clean and efficient production environment through sanitation. - Lead and Assist with Training the Sanitation Team:
Assist the Sanitation Supervisor in assigning daily tasks, monitor employee performance, monitor the adherence to sanitation schedules, chemical training, sanitation standard operating procedures training (SSOP’s). - Maintain Accurate Sanitation Records:
Assist the Sanitation Supervisor with keeping detailed records (Master Sanitation Schedule, Daily Cleaning Logs, operational checks, and pre-operation inspections) - Conduct Routine Inspections:
Verify equipment and production areas meet sanitation and food safety standards prior to releasing equipment to Food Safety Quality Assurance (FSQA) and production. - Participate in Regulatory Audits:
Assist the Sanitation supervisor with ensuring employee compliance with sanitation protocols and assist with resolving any sanitation non-conformities. - Reviews production schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products.
- Cleans and sanitizes packing machines, mixing tanks, kettles, pick systems, pumps and/or pipes (as needed).
- Assists in developing and/or revising sanitation standard operating procedures.
- Assists in developing and/or revising sanitation working practices.
- Assists in developing and/or revising observation and training practices for workers to ensure compliance with standards.
- Verify chemical inventory.
- Verify cleaning equipment inventory.
- Test chemical concentrations.
- Operate chemical dispensing unit.
- Perform Supervisory job duties in their absence.
- Assist the Sanitation Supervisor with special projects.

Education and/or ExperienceHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Preferred - 2 years in Food Manufacturing or 1 year in Sanitation. Knowledge of chemicals and their application.
Language SkillsMust be able to speak, read and write in English. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions and procedure manuals.
Mathematical SkillsAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning AbilityAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
