Service Manager

Overview

Murphy-Hoffman Company, LLC is North America’s largest Kenworth truck dealership group and leasing group. We have an opening for a Service Manager. The Service Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the branch’s Service Department in compliance with established policies and procedures. The role plans, directs and controls the activities of the Service Department to ensure growth and profit objectives are met.

It formulates major objectives, plans, procedures and programs for the Service Department; evaluates results and performance against objectives. It maintains high standards of professionalism in serving customers and identifying their needs.

• Assess present and future needs, trends, problems and profit opportunities of the Service Department.
• Establish short- and long-term operating and financial objectives for the Service Department within the Company’s plans and policies.
• Ensure approved policies and objectives are clearly understood and applied within the department.
• Formulate annual and monthly sales/profit objectives and expense budgets in accordance with company objectives.
• Review and appraise the results of activities within the department and take appropriate action as necessary.
• Travel with outside sales force and visit customer locations regularly to promote the Service Department and dealerships.
• Work with the Parts Manager and outside sales force to improve labor sales efforts.
• Maintain effective communication within and between all departments within the branch.
• Promote safe work habits and ensure safety rules are followed.
• Develop and maintain policies and practices that ensure positive employee and customer relations.
• Stay familiar with competitors, market conditions and department operation; keep the Branch Manager informed.
• Coordinate processing of warranty claims with Warranty Manager and administer warranty and policy adjustments fairly for customers, the dealership and vendors.
• Perform other duties as assigned by a supervisor.

• CDL preferred.
• Minimum of four years’ experience in related field.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills.
• Previous supervisory experience.
• Positive can-do attitude.
• Strong work ethic and willingness to work extra hours when needed.
