Position Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Echo Sonographer Part Time Day Shift.

In this role, the successful candidate under general supervision and following established policies and procedures, performs and records ultrasound diagnostic tests of patients cardiac anatomy and function. Ensures ultrasound test is of acceptable quality and records results of tests. By performing all tasks in an efficient, responsible and caring manner, the employee will be dedicated to meet the needs of our patients and our staff.

They will demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care with respect to the special needs of each patient age group served as well as those with disabilities.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Collect patient data by involving the patient, family and other health care providers.
  • Review chart and/or prescription for testing indication.
  • Demonstrate awareness of the special needs of each age group or culture served as well as those patients with disabilities.
  • Assist physician during other related procedures such as transesophageal echocardiography.
  • Maintain a safe and hazard free work area.
  • Operate equipment according to department and manufacturer’s recommendation.
  • Maintain and practice Universal Precautions and OSHA regulations that apply to job performance.
  • Perform appropriate patient monitoring.
  • Explain testing procedure to patient and family.
  • Adapt positioning to meet the needs of the patient.
  • Select appropriate transducer settings, adjust equipment controls to obtain optimum imaging.
  • Observe sound wave display screen as scanning device moves over patient’s anatomy to detect pathologies and check for factors such as function, valve pathology and so forth. Determine if images are satisfactory for diagnostic purposes.
  • Record and digitally clip visual images of cardiac anatomy.
  • Perform and print 2‑D, m‑mode and doppler measurements.
  • Complete Syngo Workflow for completion of examination.
  • Recognize hazards to patient safety and take action to maintain a safe environment.
  • Utilize Syngo Dynamic for preparation of study for physician interpretation.
  • Demonstrate professionalism through words, actions and appearance.
  • Communicate and collaborate to enhance patient experience and uphold the hospital’s core values.
  • Discuss echo findings with physicians if necessary.
  • Provide care that demonstrates ethical beliefs and respect for patient’s rights.
  • Participate and support collaboratively decisions made by management.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of the principles, policies and procedures specific to the department and the institution.
  • Fulfill the annual requirement regarding continuing education.
  • Comply with staff meeting attendance requirements.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology at a level normally acquired through completion of two (2) years post high school education in an allied health science such as nursing or sonography.
  • Knowledge of ultrasound techniques and procedures and familiarity with sonography equipment as normally acquired through completion of six to twelve month ultrasound training program.
