BACS is now hiring full‑time Residential Counselors in Vallejo! If you love helping people this could be the position for you.

As the Residential Counselor / Floor Monitor you will assist participants engaged in residential services to achieve the highest level of self‑sufficiency and support so they can integrate into the community. You will conduct “whatever it takes” interventions towards the overall care of the participant, providing counseling, rehabilitation, and on‑site support, including assertive engagement and crisis de‑escalation services in a milieu‑based approach.

Shift: Swing shift 4 pm – 12:30 pm. Preferred:
Sunday 7:30 am – 4 pm. Other days (MTWR) 4 pm – 12:30 pm.

• Provide supportive counseling in a milieu environment and aid participants in their wellness and recovery goals.
• Engage with participants to implement active service plans, goals, and discharge plans; support individuals with independent living skills.
• Provide milieu treatment, crisis intervention, and crisis assessment as necessary.
• Perform medication management in accordance with regulatory standards (including monitoring or administering medications where required).
• Maintain accurate participant files, charts, progress notes, and records; enter data into the electronic health record system.
• Foster positive working relationships with community members and initiate and maintain contact with external treatment providers for care coordination.
• Maintain a safe program environment; assist participants with meal preparation, housekeeping, and property management duties.
• Practice evidence‑based practices in line with the program’s philosophy of care, including harm reduction, “whatever it takes,” and wrap‑around support.
• Participate in supervision, staff meetings, and training sessions.

• High‑school diploma required; 4 years of paid work experience in mental health or social services (1 year of customer service may be substituted). Degree preferred; associate degree preferred.
• Bilingual in a threshold language as stated in BACS policy is preferred.
• Valid California driver’s license; personal vehicle and proof of insurance. DMV printout required.
• Must meet Community Care Licensing Requirements: pass a physical exam, TB test, DOJ fingerprint clearance, and Red Cross First Aid/CPR certification.
• COVID vaccination verified by employer for healthcare/vulnerable client roles.

• Competitive hourly rate: $27 / hr with potential to increase to $30 / hr after 90‑day introductory period.
