This opportunity in Vallejo, CA, offers a contract position as a paraprofessional supporting K-12 students in a dynamic educational environment. The role emphasizes support for both special education (SPED) and general education (Gen Ed) settings, providing enriching assistance to diverse learners.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist students in classrooms, supporting academic and social development.
  • Provide coverage in both SPED and Gen Ed settings, working alongside an in-person paraprofessional who supports remote Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) teachers.
  • Utilize ASL skills and coursework to support DHH students effectively.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to enhance student learning experiences.
  • Collaborate with educators and staff to tailor support based on student needs.

Qualifications and Skills:
  • Experience or training as a paraprofessional, ideally within K-12 schools.
  • Bilingual abilities in Spanish are strongly preferred to serve a diverse student population.
  • Knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) and understanding of DHH support strategies.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with students and educational teams.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the evolving needs of students and classroom settings.
Position Details:
  • Location:

    Vallejo, CA (worksite details approximate to San Rafael area)
  • Contract duration:
    Current School Year (CSY), ending 6/10
  • Schedule:

    24 hours per week, Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (includes a 30-minute unpaid lunch)
  • Competitive pay rate negotiable between $25 and $30 per hour, depending on experience and skill set.
