We are hiring in Valhalla NY! Join us at Easterseals Valhalla for an exciting career as a Special Education Teacher.
Salary Range$45,000‑$60,000
What You’ll DoThe Special Education Teacher works in our integrated preschool classroom and collaborates with the classroom staff to create a safe, warm and caring educational environment for our students. The teacher will follow OCFS regulations, the Creative Curriculum for Preschool, school wide PBIS initiative, and collaborate with therapeutic staff, parents, education consultant, and administration.
Your Responsibilities Will Include- Design a classroom environment that is both motivating and stimulating for students.
- Provide a daily, written lesson plan.
- Maintain periodic progress scales for each student and attend case conferences at appropriate intervals during the summer session.
- Implement behavioral system as approved by the treatment team and IEP.
- Ensure accurate attendance records are maintained and submitted appropriately before the completion of the summer session.
- Submit progress reports to appropriate parties as requested.
- Attend school‑specific and agency‑related staff and/or parent meetings/training as required.
- Ensure all students are supervised at all times by a responsible adult who is a paid employee of the agency.
- Develop a working relationship with the assigned professionals and the coordinator of therapeutic classroom activities.
- Collaborate with the treatment team regarding child treatment and diagnostic information.
- Participate in meetings and workshops that serve as community orientation regarding Easterseals.
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
- Meet minimum requirements of the appropriate State Board of Education.
- NYS Birth‑Grade 2 certification / Students with Disabilities.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
$45,000‑$60,000 (10 months with the option to work summer for an additional 3 pay periods)
