General Description of Job

Floral clerk ensures that floral displays, and shelving are maintained well stocked, clean, organized, and presentable. Cull and rotates product to ensure freshness and quality control. Offers assistance to customers to meet the goals and objectives of the department.

Duties

Smile and greet all customers providing them with extraordinary customer service.

Ensure company goals and standards are met regarding merchandising, orders, price integrity, presentation, signage, quality of product, and stocking of displays.

Create floral arrangements to display and sell; in full-service departments; create custom floral arrangements.

Promote sales through suggestive selling.

Perform plant maintenance tasks, including regular watering, cull, and rotating floral items to ensure freshness according to company guidelines; practice first-in, first-out (FIFO).

Properly handle floral with care to prevent damage, poor quality, and waste.

Control department expenses; control shrinkage and pilferage.

Load and transport floral merchandise to and from coolers, storage areas, and sales floor.

Maintain floral displays, storage rooms, preparation room and shelving by ensuring they are well stocked, clean, organized, and presentable; practice first-in, first-out (FIFO).

Use floral order guide to maintain appropriate stock levels.

Scan for UPC accuracy and apply pricing signage.

Report poor quality of product to department manager immediately.

Work on merchandising plans for floral items that has been approved and provided by the department manager or supervisor.

Responsible to clean work areas; sweep, mop floors, clean supplies and wash floral equipment.

Work as a team, assist coworkers when needed.

Always work safely and be aware of co-workers and customer safety.

Report unsafe acts by team members, conditions, or equipment immediately to store director or department manager or department supervisor.

Follow all health code regulations; ensuring the highest standards of food safety, personal hygiene, and sanitation are practiced.

Follow and promote company safety policies, work safely use appropriate safety equipment and use equipment safely.

Abide by all store rules, and company policies as stated in company’s Team Member Handbook.

Report injuries or complaints to store director, department manager, or department supervisor.

Always Treat co-workers and customers respectfully. Do not use obscene or profane language while working.

Contact the department manager, store director or floral supervisor regarding any questions, problems, and concerns.

Always keep key personnel advised of your whereabouts.

Other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

Ability to learn all types of floral product.
Ability to care for floral products.
Learn to use tools/equipment used in the department.
Must be able to effectively work in a fast paced, crowded environment; work with sense of urgency.
Prior floral experience preferred but not required.
Basic understanding of English language; read, write and speak.
Basic understanding of Spanish language; read, write and speak a plus but not required.

Job Requirements

Must exhibit a responsible, professional, and positive attitude towards the job.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
Must be able to provide proof of employment eligibility in the US.
Must be able to work around various fruits, vegetables and plant items with no allergic consequences that may affect job performance.
Must be able to work in refrigerated coolers and around humidity short periods of time.
