Warehouse Assistant Manager

About the Role:

The Assistant Warehouse Manager supports the daily operations of the Arglass warehouse and shipping department in a high-volume glass container manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for supervising warehouse personnel, coordinating inbound and outbound logistics, ensuring accurate inventory control, and maintaining strict adherence to safety and operational standards.

The Assistant Warehouse Manager plays a key role in ensuring finished glass containers move efficiently from the production floor to staging lanes and outbound trucks while minimizing breakage, maintaining accurate documentation, and supporting on-time customer deliveries.

This position requires strong leadership, operational discipline, and a safety-first mindset due to the nature of handling palletized glass products and operating powered industrial equipment.

Minimum Qualifications:

• 3-5 years of warehouse or logistics experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

• Supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.

• Experience handling fragile or palletized products (glass, containers, packaging, or similar materials) is strongly preferred.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate or bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Logistics, Operations Management, or Business preferred.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of warehouse operations and shipping processes.

• Ability to work in a manufacturing warehouse environment.

• Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting.

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds when required.

• Ability to work safely around forklifts, conveyors, and palletized glass containers.

Responsibilities:

• Support daily warehouse operations including supplying production with packaging materials, receiving finished goods from production into storage bins, finished goods staging for shipment, truck loading, receiving materials, and inventory management.

• Coordinate the movement of palletized glass containers from production lines to storage locations or warehouse staging lanes.

• Ensure proper scanning (from/to) of every goods movement in the warehouse

• Ensure shipments are accurately picked, staged, and loaded according to customer orders and delivery schedules.

• Effect checklists and controls to ensure accuracy of finished goods shipments under FIFO

• Coordinate truck dock appointments for shipping and receiving

• Maintain dock discipline to ensure efficient truck turnaround and minimize loading delays.

• Monitor staging lanes to ensure product is properly labeled, organized, and protect from damage or breakage.

Team Leadership & Workforce Coordination

• Supervise warehouse staff including forklift operators, warehouse clerks, material handlers, and shipping personnel.

• Assist with employee training, cross-training, and performance coaching.

• Support enforcement of company policies including attendance standards, safety rules, and operational procedures.

• Coordinate staffing levels across shifts to support production output and shipping schedules.

• Effect checklists and controls to ensure accuracy of finished goods shipments under FIFO

• Coordinate truck dock appointments for shipping and receiving

• Maintain dock discipline to ensure efficient truck turnaround and minimize loading delays.

• Monitor staging lanes to ensure product is properly labeled, organized, and protected from damage or breakage.

Inventory Control & ERP System Management

• Ensure accurate inventory tracking within the ERP/WMS system.

• Support cycle counting, inventory reconciliation, and physical inventory audits.

• Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, damaged goods, or shipping errors.

• Ensure proper documentation for inventory transactions, transfers, and shipping.

Truck Loading & Transportation Coordination

• Ensure trucks are loaded safely and efficiently, following proper weight distribution and load securement standards.

• Coordinate with transportation providers, carriers, and internal logistics teams to ensure on-time shipments.
