Overview
With moderate supervision, the Retail Keyholder assists the store management team in executing and supervising all store activities. This position ensures products are easily accessible and purchasable, boosts sales by sharing product and gaming knowledge with guests, maintains a clean and organized shopping environment, and fosters guest loyalty and repeat business. This role operates within a sales culture that utilizes Game Stop's Circle of Life buy, sell, trade, and reservation business model.

Responsibilities- Provide best-in-class guest service: promptly greet guests, respond to questions/concerns, assist with video gaming needs, inform guests about promotions and the trade-in program, recommend additional items, apply selling behaviors during each transaction, and express gratitude to every guest. Circulate throughout the store to prioritize guests over tasks.
- Support the shopping environment (visual and operational elements) and nurture guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business.
- Process purchases and returns accurately via the POS system, ensuring top-notch guest service.
- Answer guest questions in person or by phone promptly, courteously, and professionally.
- Promote Game Stop benefits (e.g., new title reservations program and Pro Rewards loyalty program).
- Keep all areas of the store, including restrooms, clean, organized, and merchandised; ensure fixtures and equipment are in working order.
- Complete Omni-Channel orders daily.
- Safeguard assets with inventory control and loss prevention practices, including scam awareness and safety guidelines; manage bank deposits as required.
- Conduct store inventory counts, stock/restock merchandise, and organize products on the selling floor.
- Support store management in meeting/exceeding sales, profit, and shrink goals; complete required administrative duties.
- Balance daily transactions in the POS system; ensure closeout paperwork and deposits are completed accurately; assist management with cash readiness and bank deposits.
- Check shipments for discrepancies, report issues to the Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager as needed.
- Process defectives/recalls, stock pulls, labeling, and packing lists.
- Supervise and delegate tasks in the absence of management.
- Adhere to policies and procedures (Associate Handbook, Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct) and follow opening/closing procedures.
- Observe associate performance and provide timely feedback to store management.
- Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- At least 1 year of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred.
- Video game knowledge preferred.
- Must be able to work alone, stand, and move throughout the store unassisted for up to 10 hours per day.
Skills And Abilities
- Exceptional guest service skills and the ability to provide genuine, friendly assistance.
- Clear verbal and written communication and listening skills; bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment.
- Meet performance expectations (attendance, professional dress, grooming).
- Operate the POS system and complete required paperwork; basic math and alphabetizing skills.
- Self-motivation and teamwork; problem-solving and sound judgment abilities.
- Follow instructions and perform tasks as directed; deliver bank deposits following loss prevention safety guidelines.
- Flexibility to work a varied schedule, including nights, weekends, and some holidays (minimum 3 days/week).
- Physical ability to bend, stoop, reach, climb ladders, and lift up to 30 lbs; stand/move for up to 10 hours per day.
