On-Site Utility General Purpose Operator Job Description
Work Hours – 12-, 10-, or 8-hour shift with occasional work on Weekends (Full-time position).
A Utility Journeyman maintains outdoor spaces, ensuring they are safe, attractive, and maintenance tasks.
Key Responsibilities- Debris and trash removal – keeping walkways, parking lots, and grounds free of litter and debris.
- Equipment operator – using hand tools and power equipment.
- Hardscape maintenance – sweeping walkways and performing minor repairs on hard surfaces.
- Lawn Care – mowing, watering, fertilizing, and aerating lawns.
- Plants and tree care – planting, trimming, pruning, and fertilizing trees, shrubs, and flowers.
- Seasonal task – ice removal and spreading mulch.
- Weeding and raking – clearing weeds, raking leaves, and maintaining flowerbeds.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Adhere to company and client policies and procedures.
- Must be able to pass background checks, pre-employment physical and drug screens.
- Able to work 12-, 10- or 8-hour shifts with occasional work on Weekends.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Good attitude. Team player. Strong customer service skills.
- Physical ability to carry, lift, pull, push up to 50 pounds multiple times per day.
- Physical ability to bend, stand, and walk for prolonged periods.
- Able to wear all the required PPE.
- Coveralls (cotton or fire-resistant)
- Ear plugs
- Gloves
- Hard Hat
- Safety glasses or side shields for people that wear glasses
- Steel toe shoes
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- Must be able to pass background checks, pre-employment physical and drug screens.
- Able to work 12-, 10- or 8-hour shifts with occasional work on Weekends.
- A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- 3+ years of groundskeeper experience.
- 3+ years of forklift experience.
- Good attitude. Team player. Strong customer service skills.
- Must be self-motivated, safety minded and goal oriented.
