Full Time, 8 HR Day Shift, Monday – Thursday 8:00‑5:00, Friday 8:00‑12:00

Position Summary

An advanced practice nurse specializing in the assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients with mental health needs and psychiatric disorders, working in the hospital and clinic setting alongside psychiatrists and other mental health professionals, providing comprehensive care from initial evaluation to follow‑up management and treatment planning; responsibilities include performing examinations, developing treatment plans, administering medications, educating patients, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Education
  • Graduate of an accredited, post-basic educational program for nurse practitioners.
  • Must possess a Master of Science in Nursing, with a specialization in psychiatry preferred.
  • Active, unencumbered license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Georgia.
  • Certification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.
  • Maintains biennial renewal of Board Authorization to practice as a Nurse Practitioner.
  • BLS certification.
  • ACLS certification required within 180 days of employment.
Experience

Must possess a minimum of 4 years of healthcare employment, 1‑2 of which being in an inpatient/outpatient psychiatric setting.

Skills and Abilities
  • Flexible in work schedule, assignments, workloads, setting priorities and utilizing problem‑solving techniques.
  • Ability to analyze regulations, standards, clinical issues, and patient outcomes.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and behavioral communication skills.
Working Conditions – ADA Information

Works primarily in hospital and clinic settings, including clinical/patient care areas. Considerable walking, standing, stooping, bending, and lifting (occasionally in excess of fifty (50) pounds). Mental effort required to assess, plan, and make or recommend decisions in a complex environment. Likely to be exposed to blood/body fluids, including infectious diseases. Duties require considerable walking, stooping, standing, bending, pushing, and lifting (possibly in excess of 50 lbs.),

occasional times of sitting, twisting, and kneeling. Ability to operate medical equipment instruments and office equipment. Requires visual and auditory acuity, balance, hand dexterity, mobility of the body, and mechanical ability. Long shifts, weekend and holiday hours. Takes call as necessary. Considerable mental effort, ability to work in a confined high‑stress environment. Physical functional capacity for healthcare workers as defined by the Saunders Method (very heavy).
