Job SummaryThe Georgia Gwinnett College Office of Student Life - Student Outreach and Service seeks enthusiastic students to expand volunteer opportunities for GGC students, faculty, and staff. Volunteers will support the Care Center, collaborate with community-based organizations, and assist individuals in need, with a focus on addressing food, clothing, and hygiene item insecurity.
Responsibilities- Interact professionally with students, staff, and external visitors in person, by phone, or email.
- Sort and count donated items for entry into the inventory management system.
- Pack and prepare food orders for distribution.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pantry space.
- Collect donations from designated campus drop-off bins.
- Supervise and support volunteers with task assignments and guidance.
- Promote Care Pantry services at campus resource fairs and tabling events.
- Weigh, scan, and log donated items into the inventory system using barcodes.
- Design promotional flyers and social media content using Canva.
- Label food items with expiration dates to ensure proper inventory rotation.
- Document and record itemized donation lists on receipts for donor acknowledgment.
- Work Hours: Position may require non-standard work hours (nights and weekends).
- Must have Federal Work Study award
- Must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits at Georgia Gwinnett College
- Must be in good academic standing and maintain good academic standing for the duration of employment
- Must be in good conduct standing with Georgia Gwinnett College and maintain good conduct for the duration of employment
- Student must be proficient on Windows-based PCs and skilled in Microsoft Office
- Good customer service skills with excellent oral and written communication
- Excellent organizational, time management, and multi-tasking skills
- Accuracy and attention to detail
