We serve residential, commercial, fleet, and government customers through 150+ retail store locations in eighteen states, supported by corporate offices in Mount Airy, NC, and Cobden, IL, distribution centers, and strategically located manufacturing facilities.

The Carpenter, Machine Room is based at the Valdosta, GA manufacturing plant and has overall responsibility for constructing, assembling, and ensuring the quality of wooden structures through precise measurement, cutting, and assembly techniques, while adhering to safety and production standards and meeting customer specifications. This position reports directly to the Manager, Plant and does not have direct reports.

Pay: $13/hr.

• Operate woodworking machinery.
• Set up, adjust, and operate a range of woodworking machines such as tiger saws, double cut, SCM/panel saws, truss presses, table saws, planers, miter saws, routers, sanders, and other power tools in the machine room.
• Cut, shape, and size lumber or other materials according to specifications using the machinery and tools available.
• Ensure the accuracy and precision of cuts, shapes, and dimensions, maintaining high-quality standards in the finished products.
• Perform routine maintenance on machinery, including cleaning, lubrication, and blade changes.
• Identify and troubleshoot any issues with the machines and make necessary adjustments or repairs.
• Maintain an inventory of materials and supplies necessary for machine room operations.
• Notify supervisors when supplies need to be replenished.
• Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean workspace.
• Keep accurate records of machine maintenance, repairs, and any incidents or accidents that occur in the machine room.
• Stay updated on new woodworking machinery, tools, and techniques.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains within the machine room.
• Assist in other duties within the carpentry manufacturing plant, including:
• Erector/Siding.
• Electrical.
• Flooring.
• Framing.
• Painting/Trim.
• Press/Rafting.
• Ramps/Accessories.
• Roofing.
• Small Structures.
• Trusses.
