Director, Emergency Services

Location: Valdosta, Georgia

The Director Emergency Services will report directly to the Chief Nursing Officer and is responsible for overseeing the SGMC Emergency Department.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing line management for assigned areas/departments
  • Facilitating inter and intradepartmental communication and collaboration
  • Ensuring the delivery of quality patient care
  • Ensuring the Department meets regulatory/accreditation standards
  • Managing the Department within established budgetary parameters
  • Representing the hospital in various local, state, and regional activities
  • Maintaining an atmosphere that ensures South Georgia Medical Center's mission, vision, values, code of conduct, goals, policies, and standards are consistently met
  • Functioning as relief Administrative Coordinator
Qualifications
  • Current RN license in the State of Georgia (Compact state)
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing required;
    Master's degree in Nursing or related field strongly preferred (experience may substitute on the discretion of the hiring manager)
  • Current CPR certification
  • Certification preferred in appropriate specialty
  • Six (6) years of experience in nursing, including acute care and supervisory/leadership experience, required
  • Excellent ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse individuals and groups, both internal and external to the organization
  • Ability to lead and develop others individually and as a team, and to be an effective team member
  • Ability to adapt to new situations, set priorities, and utilize problem‑solving techniques with minimal direction and appropriate collaboration
  • Demonstrated strong verbal, written, and behavioral communication skills
  • Demonstrates current knowledge of patient care, leadership, and management principles
  • Ability to operate various equipment (e.g., office, telecommunications, etc.)
