Job SummaryPosition Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Graduate Assistant to join the eCampus Data Science team. This role is ideal for a graduate student who is interested in the field of data science or analytics, has completed at least one course in statistics, and is eager to apply their academic knowledge in a practical, real-world setting.
Our data tools at USG eCampus include a strong reliance on R, SQL, and Tableau. We utilize Posit Team, an end-to-end data science platform for coding in R, to create reports, graphics, and interactive dashboards. Applicants with skills in R as well as those with a strong desire to learn R are strongly encouraged to apply. Time is dedicated to learning new skills, and opportunities to sit for professional certification exams, such as the Certified Tableau Desktop Specialist exam, are provided.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in cleaning, transforming, and preparing large datasets for analysis. Assist in the analysis and interpretation of data using statistical techniques. Collaborates with team members on various data science projects. Prepares reports and visualizations to communicate findings. (70%)
- Participate in professional development opportunities to learn skills in R, SQL, Tableau, data visualization, etc. (20%)
- Attends team meetings and meetings with stakeholders to deliver results. (10%)
- Be fully admitted to a graduate degree program at UWG.
Please note:
Students admitted provisionally are not eligible for assistantship positions. - Hold a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Be enrolled full-time in a UWG graduate program during the assistantship period.
- Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 in all previous and current graduate coursework.
- Meet eligibility requirements for employment in the United States.
- Completion of at least one course in statistics displaying knowledge of hypothesis testing (t-tests, ANOVA, regression).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Self-regulated and self-directed learner.
- Currently enrolled in a graduate program related to data analytics, social sciences, education, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and visualization.
- Experience with R for statistical computing and graphics.
- Knowledge of SQL for database management and queries.
- Familiarity with Tableau for creating interactive data visualizations.
