Established in 2017, the Department of Juvenile Justice Health Services was created through a collaboration between Augusta University Health System and the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice to deliver high-quality health services to justice‑involved youth in 25 facilities.
Base rate: $20.00 per hour
41 paid days off per year
Department Information Educational Requirements- High school diploma with two years of experience
- AAMA - American Association of Medical Assistant
- CCMA - Certified Clinical Medical Assistant
- Med Ca - Medical Career Assessment
- NCMA - National Certified Medical Assistant
- RMA - Registered Medical Assistant
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Detail‑oriented
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases
Preferred Qualifications
- 3 or more years of previous experience in a clinical setting and correctional clinical experience
- Experience with electronic medical record preferred
- Bi‑lingual a plus
- Educated and trained to perform both administrative and clinical skills in a medical care environment as part of the facility clinical team
- Provides support to the physician, nurse practitioner, physician assistant or other providers as needed
- Evaluates and prepares patients to be seen by providers
- Patient triage: taking vital signs, recording patient interview/complaints, and preparing the patient for exams/procedures as needed
- Processes lab requests, including venipuncture
- Performs routine screening tests, EKGs, nebulizer treatments, and changes dressings as ordered
- Prepares and administers medications as prescribed, noting times and amounts on patient records
- Enters clinical data into the electronic medical record and maintains accurate documentation
- Assists with administrative clerical duties, answering phones and scheduling appointments as needed
- Promotes a customer‑friendly environment and provides superior service to patients, students, faculty, and employees
