Position SummaryThe Perfusionist provides clinical services that support, treat, measure or supplement the cardiopulmonary and circulatory system of the patient. The Perfusionist may also be asked to evaluate new products or techniques dealing with perfusion services. The Perfusionist acts as a liaison, in dealing with the surgeon, hospital and patient. The Perfusionist maintains credentials as described by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion.
The Perfusionist will ensure the development and maintenance of policies, procedures, techniques, protocols, competency, staff development and quality monitoring for perfusion services at SGMC.
- Licensed by the Georgia Composite Medical Board
- Certified/Board eligible by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion
- Must be able to take call
-Valid driver’s license - Ability to communicate clearly with, and care for a diverse population of patients/family units of all ages, variety of cultures etc.
- Ability to document clinical information, etc.
- Interpersonal relations include other employees, physicians, patients and families, and other health care professionals.
- Ability to organize and react in a high stress environment
- Excellent verbal, written, and behavioral communication skills
Works in hospital. May encounter fast-paced and emergent type schedule. Required to have adequate physical abilities. Works in varying degrees of room temperatures. Exposed to blood borne pathogens. Exposed to hazardous materials. Irregular working hours.
