Schedule: Full Time, 8 HR Day Shift, Monday-Thursday 8-5 Friday 8-12
Position SummaryThe Psychiatry Counselor provides mental health services offering assessments and diagnoses in the Psychiatry Clinic. The Counselor performs and assists with treatments for individuals, couples, families, and groups, and documents care and treatment methods provided. The Counselor also coordinates the patient’s plan of care with providers and other disciplines as necessary. The Counselor will maintain an atmosphere, which ensures SGMC Health’s mission, vision, values, code of conduct, goals, policies and standards are consistently supported and enforced.
Knowledge,Skills & Abilities – Education
- Current License as an LPC, LMFT, or LMSW in the State of Georgia.
- CPR required.
- One (1) year experience in related specialty area preferred
- Ability to work well individually and as a team leader or member.
- Demonstrated ability to assess and, adapt to new situations, think critically, manage priorities and utilize problem-solving techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret policies, standards, and think critically evaluating patient care issues.
- Strong clinical skills in assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation.
- Ability to communicate clearly with, and care for diverse population of patients/family units of all ages, a variety of cultures, and/or persons occasionally exhibiting stressed behaviors.
- Ability to operate clinical equipment, computer, telecommunication devices and patient information systems.
ADA INFORMATION:
Works primarily in the clinic setting. Requires considerable standing, mental effort, stooping, bending, lifting (in excess of fifty (50) lbs.), pushing objects (carts, beds, and wheelchairs). Likely to be exposed to blood and body fluids, including infectious diseases. May rarely require accompanying and assisting with patient transport to another facility. Uses medical equipment, telecommunications devices and patient information systems on a regular basis.
